This was my first night back playing Warmachine since the new edition dropped, and my first night as a full member, I had booked a game using the Aftermath Forums, and met my opponent Mark P where we set up the clubs boards and scenery for the game. These are my notes from the game as I am trying to make myself into a better player ūüôā

Everyone at the club has been very friendly and welcoming, and I am looking forward to a game next week. Anyway onto the Battle Report


‚ÄčThe quick version is that it was Mordikaar vs Vayl1 ended up as a draw, we weren’t using clocks as it was my first time at 75pts in the new system, hopefully I’ll start using a death clock after a couple of games.

Things I forgot

  • I forgot to feat on turn 1 and lost a Gladiator to a &^^%ing hellmouth
  • Forgot to cry on my agoniser one turn.
  • Forgot that stealth does nothing against him
  • Forgot to Apparition Bloodrunners (fortunately didn’t matter).

Things I learned:-

  • Karax are good for their points, girded helped me be a touch indiscriminate with the cannoneer, since I could ignore blast damage
  • Bloodrunners are not very effective against Legion
  • Void Spirits are nasty, paticularly when they charge into the back arc of a light warbeast ūüôā
  • Agoniser is great (When you remember to use him)
  • Gobber Chef helps prevent fury mistakes.

Turn 1

The boys are looking good in the scarlet and gold (ignore the naked despoiler on the end) Karax are arranged in 2 triangles and a diamond to ensure that at least 2 need to be removed to lose the shield wall benefit.

I forgot to take a picture of Marks deployment unfortunately (oh and I have some blood runners hiding in a wood you can see the edge of in the bottom right.

He advanced, I advanced and took up a defensive formation (and forgot to feat)

Turn 2

(Despoiler is the proxy base on the rocks on the left)

One of the Bloodrunners screening the titan got sniped out (dammit eyeless sight) by the Seraph, the tentacle then charged, and dragged my titan to the right hand hellmouth (what sort of ^%*% allows a 16″ drag) The gladiator was then nibbled by the hellmouth and eaten by Typhon.

Other stuff advanced, but all in all it wasn’t as painful as I expected it to be. The Raek advanced and hid behind the hedge. Spell martyr tried to martyr himself to get a spell on the void spirit, but the spell missed and he exploded.

I then charged some tentacles with Bloodrunners, advanced some more, watched a cannonball bounce off the left hand hellmouth.

Karax advanced, Mordikaar hid behind the woods and feated, Agoniser remembered his job and cried to weaken things. Despoiler charged the Raek to get him in his -2 Arm aura, actually hit his Def 17? and did a good lump of damage and put up Magic Supression Animi, Void Spirit Charged into back arc and annihilated the Raek, then moved into the tentacle to start his killing spree, and rolled 5 on 3d6 so it lived ūüôĀ ¬†Brute charged Typhon and Seraph to try and pin them.

The Scythean was stood on top of the hill, so the cannoneer shot it, the Karax charged it and hit it with 3 two man CMAs, then Mordikaar Essence blasted to finish it off, and got the shepherd behind it.

Turn 3

Seraph apparitioned back, then slip streamed Typhon back, Typhon then charged and ate the Brute. The Hellmouth ate the void spirit, Vayl feated, advanced and used her spell to give +2 to hit to help mitigate against defence, Carnivean advanced and breathed on Karax, failed to hit all 4 and got poltergeisted back 4d3″ much to his surprise, a couple of Karax got eaten.

Karax then charaged tentacles, killed one and failed to roll the 5 to hit that they needed, Cannoneer shot the Seraph again, nearly killing it and killed the succubus hiding behind it. Bloodrunners formed a defensive screen to stop a tentacle from appearing and grabbing Mordikaar.

Turn 4

Seraph frenzied into Typhon and crit poisoned him Mwa ha ha!

Vayl Slip streamed the Carnivean round the pillar, it then charged despoiler and did all but 2 boxes thanks to the Agoniser ūüėÄ

Beast handlers healed and enraged the despoiler who also did all but 2 damage to the Carnivean, Karax charged and finished it. Bloodrunners charged Typhon and Hellmouth and did pretty much nothing, definitely dropping them next time as they do nothing against Legion, and I think a 2nd Void Spirit would be more useful.

We then called the game there as Mark needed to leave and if we were on clocks then the game would have been over a long time ago, but as my first game back playing Warmachine it was great fun against a very forgiving opponent.
